In the Absence of Gunfire

21 poems on what war leaves behind.

The second collection from the author of Guardians in the Gale. Where the first book stood on the battlefield, this one walks the silence afterward — the homes, the memories, and the quiet sacrifices that endure long after the guns fall quiet.

About the Collection

What War Leaves Behind

In the Absence of Gunfire is a collection of 21 poems examining the profound echoes of conflict. These verses turn away from the noise of the front line and toward the stillness that follows — the empty chair at the table, the folded flag, the letters read and re-read.

It is a meditation on the cost of peace and the people who quietly pay it: the soldiers who carry the war home inside them, and the families who hold the line on the other side of the silence.

Peace is a beautiful thing to hold, Yet its creation is harsh and cold.

Like its predecessor, the book is a handcrafted tribute — written with the same care, discipline, and reverence for those who serve beyond the spotlight.
